Style lessons GoT unofficially taught us

There are two types of people in this world - those who watch Game of Thrones and those who don't.

Actually, there’s more to this divide created by HBO. Among them are those who take fashion notes from Game of Thrones and those who don't. We are soon starting Season 7, so in the interest of those who might have missed the fun, shall we do a recap of the fashion lessons GoT unofficially taught us?

Men need to reevaluate their relationship with kimonos

From King’s Landing to Tokyo, the rather side-lined kimono silhouettes actually look great on men if they have the sartorial vision to pull it off.

Statement necklaces look great on everyone

From a queen to a conniving witch, bold neckpieces add the definition to a look that even a sceptre or a magic wand wouldn't. The appeal of audacious accessories is universal.

Never underestimate the power of leather accents

Remember the sassy Dorne women? Belts, straps, jackets, bracelets, armlets - you name it and they have it in leather. We all know there are takers for such rough charm. Right?

Capes need more attention

Aren't we glad that there are ‘superheroes’ beyond the world of comics that have laid claim on capes? No matter how pretty the dresses, it’s the cape that works the magic.

Sleeves - the bolder, the better

Bell sleeves go to another level in GoT. Every leading lady has a lesson to teach about how to pull them off.

Shoulder pads are fierce yet feminine

Princess Diana rocked it in the ’80s, but if GoT was reality, she’d be late to the shoulder pads party by a few centuries. Ladies at Dorne and the Mother of Dragon totally own shoulder pads to say the least.
