Mumbai: #8 moments
This time, I met a new Mumbai!
It was not a city defined by its bone-crushing crowd in local trains or where, as you watch people rush by on the streets, you feel you are staring at a fast forwarded tape. It was a city of one Sasson Dock, an Afghan Church, old Parsee restaurants, cobbled alleys dotted with colorful art and architecture so grand that they hypnotise you at one glance.
On a quick look back on last week, here are the moments I see most vividly in my mind:
1# The lunch at Britannia, a seemingly ancient food joint, which offers generous dollops of Parsee culture to hungry tourists, who are looking for stories they can take back home.
2# Walking around Fort and discovering lovely corners to stop for pictures. This door was straight out of the ’80s.
3# Waking up to parrots displaying some serious acrobatics on a bird feeder at my friend’s lovely home.
4# Learning to sail, just a bit. Will share more on this soon.
5# Posing for pictures in the middle of a very crowded Dalal Street and being stared upon. Haha! (Umm... am not lying, see the lead image).
6# A quick scan of the Jewish synagogue at Kalaghoda.
7# Landing up at VT at an odd hour just to behold the grandeur of the architecture at night.
8# And, finally, welcoming the New Year with my lovely friends.
So glad this mini-year end trip to Mumbai. So glad I discovered your lovely nooks and corners.
