Next time treat yourself to a pair of handcrafted leather sandals from one of the hundreds of small boutiques, dotting the mud-hued, meandering streets of Auroville.
I’d recommend Annai Leather, a store that will design the trendiest shoes for you, right in front of you. The guy is always up for the most daunting shoe-design challenges. Just show him a picture and give him some time, he’ll have you rest your feet on a whole lot of style.

Here’s what you should make a note of:
Ideally carry an image/printout of the design you want. It’s good if you have different angles of the shoe
Avoid pointy designs. That’s a little difficult to pull-off in short time
Our guy specialises in chunky flats, so tap in on that and get yourself some trendy flats
Keep some time in hand (one or two days) if you are placing order for complicated designs. Simple ones are made right in front of you
